The Z head was introduced by Ford several years ago as a mid level  race head to bridge the gap between the bolt on street  Gt40 heads, and the all out race bred Yates . What we have found out is that this head  has the capability to reach far beyond what Ford ever thought. Z heads feature a raised exhaust port , and a stock location style intake port with adequate cross sectional area for stroker type engines, and a excellent chamber design to provide a clean efficient burn. This head just flat out makes power , on a typical bolt together style 352 cid sbf , they produced 630 HP  @ 7400 rpm . 675-700 HP can be reliably made with some of the bigger Windsor's. This is a head that can make big power without breaking the bank.
